In Ethiopia, education is started from a pre-primary pupil from 4 to 6 years old in Kindergarten. After that pupils get admission into the Primary schools at the age of 7 to 10 years (grade 1 to 4) and 11 to 14 years (grades 5 to 8).

Grade 8th (የ8ኛ ክፍል)
At the end of Grade 8th, a regional exam is conducted by the Ministry of Education (MoE) Primary school certificate exam. This examination is not a national level examination but its equally important for primary level students.
National Educational Assessment and Examinations Agency-NEAEA, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia nither conducted the grade 8th examination nor published its result online.
MOE – Ethiopian Ministry of Education is responsible for publishing its books, question papers, exam date, result and exam centre. Most of the examination is conducted in Amharic (አማርኛ) language.
Ethiopia National Examination
After the 8th-grade students get admission into Secondary education. It has two years of schooling from age 15 to 16 years (grades 9 and 10).
Grade 10 Exam (የ10ኛ ክፍል)
At the end of grade 10th student sat for the country’s first national examination called Ethiopian General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (EGSECE). The EGSECE is popularly known as grade 10.
In grade 10 the National Educational Assessment and Examinations Agency (NEAEA) took the responsibility for quality and improvement of the education system under MoE. In addition, grade 10 examination conducted at all places in the country once every year in the month of June/July. In general, the grade 10 result released in the month of August, September. However, students are required to pass in at least 5 subjects to get promoted to a higher level.
Grade 12 Exam (የ12ኛ ክፍል)
At the end of grade 12 student appeared in the country’s second and most important national examination called Ethiopian Higher Education Entrance Examination (EHEEE) TheEHEEE is popularly known Ethiopian University Entrance Examination.
The NEAEA administrated the grade 12 examination. In addition, the grade 12 examination is conducted across the country once every year in the month of June/July. In general, the grade 12 result released in the month of August, September. In grade 12 candidate have to pass in minimum seven (7) subjects for eg. in Natural Science group: Biology, Chemistry. Civics, English Mathematics Nat. Sc., Physics, Scholastic Aptitude are there.
