Hawassa University recruited employees on a basis of the permanent joint appointment, part-time, or other arrangements in accordance with the general University Policy. The recruitment process is done through the guidelines pertaining to this provision shall be issued by the Senate.

Recruitment and Promotion
The appointment and promotion of academic staff shall be implemented based on the requirements indicated below for each academic rank. However, during the appointment process, female academic staff shall get three (3) additional points as affirmative action and given priority when they have tie points with male candidates.
Age Requirements
The maximum age limit for the appointment (recruitment) of the academic staff shall be 40 and 50 years for masters and PhD holders, respectively. However, the maximum age limit can be waived under special circumstances justified by an Academic Unit and approved by the AVP.
