The NEA (National Assessment Agency) official website is www.nae.gov.et. The main function of NEA is to provide a better education facility through Ethiopia. The NEA is part of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Ministry of Education.

One of the major functions of NEA is to National examinations (for grade 10, certification of secondary school, and grade 12 admission for higher educational institutes administered in each year).
Sub-national examinations are responsible for each region (grade 8, certification of primary school administered in each year).
National learning assessment (given for lower grades 2 and 3 like EGRA and EGMA and exit levels of primary and secondary at grades 4, 8, 10 and 12 for every four-year intervals), and Classroom assessments.
The goals of the first cycle (Grades 9 and 10) of secondary education are to:
- provide general education that will enable the students to identify their needs, interests and potential so that they can choose their field of study;
- enable the student to continue further education and training;
- prepare students for the world of work.
The goals of the second cycle (Grades 11 and 12) of secondary education are:
- choose subjects or areas of training;
- prepare for higher education;
- prepare students for the world of work.
Ethiopian National Examination 2020
Currently, the NEA conducted only two national examinations throughout the country. The national exam EGSECE is conducted at the end of 10 grade and EUEE is conducted at the end of grade 12.
1. Ethiopian General Secondary Education Certificate Examination 2020
- The Ethiopian General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (EGSECE) is conducted in Ethiopia annually. It is a national examination in which pupils sit at the end of their final year of Secondary school education. A pupil can sit the EGSECE if he/she is studying in an approved institution in Ethiopia.
2. Ethiopian University Entrance Examination 2020
- The Ethiopian University Entrance Examinations (EUEE) is conducted in Ethiopia annually. It is a national examination in which pupils sit at the end of their final year. A pupil can sit the EUEE if he/she is studying in an approved institution in Ethiopia.
